How to find profitable wholesale products on Amazon
A repeatable way to turn a supplier price list into a short list of products worth buying, before you spend a cent.
Start with the supplier list, not the marketplace
Most beginners browse Amazon looking for ideas and then hunt for a supplier. Wholesale works the other way round: you already have a price list, and the job is to find which lines on it are worth your money. That is a filtering problem, and filtering is what spreadsheets and tools are good at.
Match every line to an ASIN
Supplier lists use UPC, EAN or their own SKU codes. Convert them to ASINs first and keep the match for later. A wrong match is the most expensive mistake in wholesale, because every number after it belongs to a different product.
Check the pack size on the listing against what you will actually receive. A listing for a 6-pack priced against your single-unit cost will look like a loss, and the reverse will look like a bargain that does not exist.
Apply four quick filters
- Profit after fees: use the current price, the real referral and fulfilment fees and your inbound costs.
- ROI: most sellers want at least 25 to 30 percent so one slow month does not wipe out the margin.
- Demand: a rank that implies a few sales a month will tie your cash up for a long time.
- Competition: count the sellers, and check whether Amazon itself is on the listing.
Anything that fails two or more filters can be dropped without further thought. What remains is a list you can research properly.
Look at history, not just today
A product that earns 30 percent today may have earned 10 percent for most of the last year. Look at the price and rank history before you trust the current price. A short spike to a high price is a trap; a stable price over many months is what you want to buy against.
Decide how many to buy
Profitable does not mean buy a pallet. Order enough for roughly one to two months of expected sales and reorder when you have proof that it sells. Wholesale Analyzer does this filtering for you: upload the list and it scores every line, recommends a quantity and shows the most you should pay.
Stop guessing. Start buying with confidence.
Upload your next supplier list and see which products are worth your money, how many to order and the most you should pay.
